In the rural community of Hillsboro, Wisconsin over 50% of elementary students receive free or reduced meals. But what about when school meals are not available, such as over weekends and long breaks?

Cub packs

Cub Packs provide a supply of nutritious food to help replace the school meals that children miss during their weekends and extended holiday breaks. All food is provided to children free of charge and distributed by teachers on Fridays for the weekends or the last day before long breaks. Cub Packs is made possible by a group of amazing volunteers and through the support of our generous sponsors. Learn more about them in the Partners section of our site.

Cub Packs was created not just to provide children who need it with food, but also with an opportunity to have access to the same educational experience as their food secure peers. Hunger has a profound impact on anyone and children who go 65 hours without enough food over a weekend do not come to school ready to learn, and a gap develops between them and their peers that may never be overcome.

Never worry about numbers. Help one person at a time, and always start with the person nearest you.
